Right of Reply: Why Accused Officials Get a Voice

Accountability without fairness is just a mob. Every official can respond to a report about them - but they cannot delete it. Here is the balance we strike.

Naija Accountability

A platform that only lets citizens speak is half a conversation. So every politician on Naija Accountability has a right of reply: through the verified Officials Portal, they can respond directly to any report filed against them.

But the right has limits, and they are deliberate. An official can add their side of the story. They cannot edit a citizen report, and they cannot delete one. The original claim and the official response sit side by side, permanently.

This is what separates a record from a rumour. Readers see both the accusation and the defence, and judge for themselves. Officials who deliver get to show it. Officials who deflect reveal that too.

Fairness is not a courtesy here - it is what makes the record credible. A score that ignored the other side would be easy to dismiss. One that invites it is much harder to wave away.

Hold your leaders to the record.
